The history of Capannelle winery dates back to 1974, when Mr. Raffaele Rossetti, Roman business man, decided to buy an old farmhouse dated XVI century in the heart of Chianti.
The first Capannelle product was released in 1975 and it was a Chianti wine bringing the name of the farmhouse
This was a brilliant trial which lead the Company to appear in the list of quality producers in few years
James B. Sherwood is now the owner of the Company: he is the founder of the Orient – Express Hotel L.T.D. (now Belmond), owner of some of the most beautiful hotels in the world, like Hotel Cipriani in Venezia, Hotel Splendido in Portofino, Villa San Michele in Firenze, Hotel Caruso in Ravello and some others
For old vintages wines and for the storage of the bottles belonging to selected clients, a real armored Caveau has been built: it can host around 8.000 bottles and the Caveau Club

The temperature and humidity are constantly controlled and registered via a certified tool
